The Chesapeake Digital Humanities Consortium (CDHC) invites submissions for its second annual conference: Social Justice and Online Activism. This year’s conference will be held virtually on Zoom in two half-day sessions on February 25th and 26th. There will be no conference registration fee.

Life writing is often considered to endorse a universalist liberal humanist ethics that encompasses a broad spectrum that goes from a neoliberal emphasis on self-sufficiency to theories of care that highlight our common vulnerability and interdependence. This universalist humanist ethics, even in its most progressive forms, may blunt life writing’s radical edge and even participate in the silencing and oppression of subaltern beings that fall outside its scope.

The Journal of Hate Studies is an international scholarly journal promoting intellectual engagement with processes that embolden the expression of hate. The Co-Incidence Festival is an annual gathering of thinkers, artists, activists, etc. at the intersection of experimental music, speculative philosophy/theory, and radical politics. We seek to experiment, in practice, with modes of thinking and being beyond the domination and logic of capital.
It will be held in-person and virtually in Boston, US, January 2-10, 2021. You may apply with a project or without a project.

Originally an 18th-century German innovation, the bildungsroman became a popular literary genre across the Anglo-American world during the 19th century. A ‘coming of age’ novel about young adults in search of meaning, the genre was the literary medium of choice for many Western writers exploring the moral and psychological developments of characters traversing unfamiliar worlds and encountering new challenges and adventures.
The Coffman Prize Award Guidelines
The Society for Military History Coffman Prize is awarded annually to the best first manuscript in military history. The competition is open to scholars whose work blends military history with social, political, economic, and diplomatic history and to authors of studies centering on campaigns, leaders, technology, and doctrine. The winning author receives a cash award and a plaque. The winner also will be recognized at the Awards Dinner at the Society for Military History annual meeting. This prize is named in honor of Edward M. Coffman.
