The recent shock electoral victories of ultra-rightist provocateurs including Bolsonaro in Brazil (2018) and Milei in Argentina (2023) –as well as the near-wins of Bolsonaro (2022), Kast in Chile (2021), and Hernández in Colombia (2022), the hard-line mass-incarceration policies of Bukele in El Salvador, or the current surge in support for Trump among Latinx voters in the US– have exposed a blind spot on the radar of Latin American cultural studies.

It is built upon the foundational conviction that the architectural project, serving as both a tool, a process, and an object, embodies a unique and profound mode of intellectual inquiry, supported by empirical evidence.

The Central European History Society (CEHS) is pleased to solicit nominations for its annual Hans Rosenberg Book Prize. This annual prize honors the best monograph in Central European history published in English by a North American scholar. This year’s competition is restricted to books with an imprint of 2023. “Central European history” is understood to include all German-speaking countries as well as areas previously included within the Habsburg monarchy.
