This two-day international symposium marks the 75th anniversary of the British National Health Service (NHS) by focusing on a neglected theme in the organisation’s history, culture and current medical practices. 'The NHS and the legacies of empire' investigates the influence of race, colonialism and migration on different aspects of public health in the UK from 1948 through to the present day.
The application period for the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations' (SHAFR) fall research grants is now open. The deadline for all grants is October 15.
Graduate Dissertation Research Grants
Applicants are automatically considered for all four grants and must be working on dissertations relating to an aspect of U.S. foreign relations history.
The University of Vermont’s Department of History in The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track member in Global Environmental History, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Period and area of specialization are open. Candidates should hold a PhD in history or be an advanced ABD in History. Opportunities to participate in a range of interdisciplinary programs exist at the University of Vermont, depending on the successful candidate’s research and teaching interests. The position will start in Fall of 2024.
Boston College and its Center for Christian-Jewish Learning invite applications for a one year visiting appointment (renewable for a second year) as the Corcoran Visiting Chair in Christian-Jewish Relations, specializing in an aspect of the relationship between Christianity and Judaism. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or its earned equivalent, have a demonstrated record of publication in the field, and hold (or have retired from) a tenured position (or its equivalent) in a university or seminary. Applications from all relevant disciplines are welcome.
