From Thursday May 11 to Saturday May 13 2017, Nouveau Reach, the first-ever Canadian conference focussing on Critical Luxury will be held at Ryerson University’s School of Fashion. Co-organized by professors Alison Matthews David, Robert Ott (Ryerson University), Jessica Clark and Nigel Lezama (Brock University), this stimulating event will gather the world’s leading fashion and luxury researchers and local Toronto makers to discuss the changing meanings of luxury in the Canadian context.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the 1977 National Women’s Conference, the domestic answer to the United Nations’ International Women’s Year initiative. The Houston Conference, as it came to be known, was the largest federally mandated gathering of American women in history. On this occasion, 2000 delegates elected from fifty states and six territories and roughly 16,000 observers came together to craft a twenty-six plank National Plan of Action, submitted to President Jimmy Carter in 1978. The conference remains one of the most imaginative and wide-ranging exercise
Education About Asia (EAA) is the peer-reviewed teaching journal of the Association for Asian Studies. Our print and online readers include undergraduate instructors as well as high school and middle school teachers. Our articles are intended to provide educators and academics in the humanities and social sciences who are often not specialists with basic understanding of Asia-related content. Professors and high school teachers also utilize many EAA articles and essays as student readings. Qualified referees evaluate all manuscripts submitted for consideration.

The seminar welcomes presentations on any aspect of - or approach to - international history, broadly defined, with a focus on the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries. The seminar is an ideal environment to present research at an early stage and meet other graduate students and LSE faculty members.
Seminars will be held on Wednesday afternoons between September and December (LSE term time).
