About AHEC
The Asian Historical Economics Conference (AHEC) is a biennial conference organized by the Asian Historical Economics Society. The conference aims to bring together researchers working on the economic history of all regions of Asia, as well as those comparing Asia with other regions. Previous conferences were held in Venice (2008), Beijing (2010), Tokyo (2012), Istanbul (2014), Seoul (2016), Hong Kong (2018), and Bangkok (2022).
AHEC 2024
The 8th Conference (AHEC 2024) will be hosted by the Centre for Quantitative History of HKU Business School, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the International Society for Quantitative History. The two-day conference will take place at the main campus of The University of Hong Kong on December 9-10, 2024. Sascha O. Becker, Professor and Xiaokai Yang Chair of Business and Economics at Monash University, and Joel Mokyr, Robert H. Strotz Professor of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Economics and History at Northwestern University, will give keynote speeches.
We invite papers that explore various aspects of economic history, with priority given to those related to Asia. Please submit your paper (or a 3-5 page proposal) via our submission form, no later than May 31, 2024. The Program Committee will review the submissions and announce the results by mid-July. Following the acceptance announcements, we will open the registration system on July 15, 2024.

- June 1-30, 2024: Review of Papers by AHEC 2024 Organizing Committee
- July 2-14, 2024: Notification of Paper Acceptance
- July 15, 2024: Online Registration begins
- September 9, 2024: Deadline for Early Bird Registration and Payment
- November 10, 2024: Deadline for Online Registration and Payment
- November 11-15, 2024: Notification of Final Presentation Schedule
- December 9-10, 2024: AHEC 2024

We have limited subsidies available for graduate students whose home institutions cannot cover all the expenses.
