Updating your Profile
Editing Your Profile
Your profile page is used to let editors and other users know a little bit about the person behind the posts. You can navigate to your profile page by selecting the Person icon in the top-right menu of any page on the Commons and clicking “Profile”. There you will see your name, categories for entering some information about yourself, and a column of menu links.

The first option you’ll see is whether you want your profile to be public or private. Set your profile to public if you plan to use your H-Net profile as a public-facing landing page for your online scholarly presence, or as a digital CV. Keep your profile set to private if you want it to be accessible only to fellow H-Net users.
Just under that are boxes to fill in your name. You can now choose to add your preferred pronouns to your profile. These will display to the right of your name on the site.
We encourage you to upload a profile picture and include your areas of scholarly interest, but those are not mandatory options. Most of the remaining fields, including your education, publications, websites and bio, are just as they were on the previous version of the Commons.

We have also added space at the bottom to include your ORCID iD, if you have one. An ORCiD ID is a unique, persistent, free identifier that researchers can use to connect their work to their name throughout their career.
Once you’ve made changes to your profile, simply click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
