Resetting Your Password
If you forget the password to your H-Net Commons account, you can request a new one. You can do so by clicking the Person icon in the top-level menu and then clicking the “Log In” link. Then select the “Reset password” link in the page’s righthand menu. From there, enter in the email address associated with your H-Net Commons account and check the box below it. You will be sent an email containing a temporary password and instructions on how to use it to log in to your H-Net account.
Changing Your Password
If you are already logged in and know your current password, you can manually set a new password or e-mail address by first navigating to the "Settings" page (shown below) in your user profile. Click on the Person icon in the top-level menu, and then click "Settings" under the "Manage" heading.
Once there, enter your current password and your preferred new password or email in the corresponding fields. Then press the Submit button at the bottom of the page to save your changes. If the information entered was correct, the page should reload with a green success message near the top of the page.
A Note About Logging in to Other H-Net Services
Our Reviews Management System (RMS) and the H-Net job guide are hosted on a separate website and require a different set of login credentials than the Commons (RMS and the Job Guide share the same log in and password with each other). You will need to make a separate account outside of your H-Net Commons account in order to use these systems. However, you may use the same email and password that you made for your H-Net Commons profile if you choose. To request a new password for RMS or the job guide, use the password reset link that appears on the login page and fill out your email address. You should receive an email with a temporary password and instructions on how to log back into your account.
