A Fix for Trouble Receiving Daily Digests

Jesse Draper - Associate Director, Networks Discussion

After a thorough examination of the digest process, our system administrator and our Drupal developer have applied two patches that we believe solve the missing digest problem. We suspect there will be an unusually large digest in the affected groups tonight as the system get caught up. If you find that you are still not receiving digests through the weekend please contact the Help Desk immediately: help@mail.h-net.msu.edu

Thank you for your patience and a special thanks to the editors of H-War for working with us over the past couple weeks to diagnose the problem.

All the best,

Jesse Draper

RE: Email Digest Problems

Jesse Draper - Associate Director, Networks Discussion

Greetings H-Net Subscribers,

We have received a few emails to the Help Desk about problems with daily digest emails, specifically, that there are individual posts that are being left out of the digest. We are working to resolve the issue and will post a follow-up announcement once we have taken care of it.

Thanks for your patience.

H-Net Mail Services Offline, Evening of October 12

Peter Knupfer Discussion

H-Net's mail machine, mail.h-net.msu.edu, is down this evening for rebuilding and repair.  Notifications from the H-Net Commons will be distributed, but those bound for mail.h-net addresses will not be delivered while the mail server is undergoing maintenance.  We will post a notice when mail resumes.

Re: Troubleshooting: Safari

Janet Goodwin Discussion

I have had trouble with both Safari and Firefox. Here's what I do: When the "manage H-Japan" options do not appear, I open the Editor Resource page (https://networks.h-net.org/editor-resources) and log in. Then I try the H-Japan page again. If I am still unsuccessful, I close the browser and reopen it, and voila! I'm good to go. I don't use Firefox all that much, but I find that with Safari, as long as I open the H-Japan page every day or so, it seems to remember who I am. But if I take some time off it forgets me and thinks I am a regular subscriber or, worse yet, a non-suscriber. Tell me

How to Crosspost H-Net Reviews

Peter Knupfer Discussion

Crossposting reviews from around H-Net is a commonplace on our networks.  Recent improvements to the system make it possible to crosspost without the bother and the unpredictable results of cutting and pasting through different browsers and platforms.  Inserting rather than pasting a review also ensures that the review remains intact as it is distributed.

Any H-Net Review can be inserted into other types of content (blog post, discussion post, page) using the same procedure as inserting multimedia.  Once inserted and published, the entire review appears, properly formatted, and with any tags
