Samuel served in 1863 as US Postmaster for Breathitt during the Civil War and is shown in Federal Census as a Farmer for his occupation.
Unconfirmed facts about his life remain; among those not presently known to this research is the location of his burial, reported to be in Eureka Springs area of Arkansas in 1895.
