Re: Cost of Network Storage and Server?

Mike Wilson asks:

Our small school (around 500 students) likely needs to replace our current network server/storage.

I've been told this is likely going to cost around $12,000 if we include licensing fees.

It kind of depends on what you're trying to do.

If all you're looking for is network accessible storage, $1000 buys an awful lot NAS appliance (just browse microcenter or CDW), w/ RAID.  Add $1500 for tape backup.  Add 5%/year for a service contract.

Simulation technologies

Currently, in nursing education the use of simulation has become an increasingly used technology for instructing future nurses. Am curious what other types of technologies educators (nursing or other) that people are using in their classrooms to enhance the educational experience of students? Please provide website/reference links if possible. Thank you!

Cost of Network Storage and Server?

Our small school (around 500 students) likely needs to replace our current network server/storage.

I've been told this is likely going to cost around $12,000 if we include licensing fees.

It would help to hear the type of costs and solutions other k-12 public schools have used.

Thanks for any information and suggestions.
