Encouraged by the steadily growing interest in environmental history in Latin America, Ambiente & Sociedade, an Open Access interdisciplinary journal published by Brazil’s National Association of Graduate Courses and Research in Environment and Society (ANPPAS), invites proposals for a dossier dedicated to environmental history. Because the dossier is intended to call attention to the broad range of work being done in the field of environmental history, its editors Eunice Nodari, Marina Miraglia, Mark Hersey and Sandro Dutra e Silva welcome proposals that reflect the field’s diversity in terms of its methodological approaches, geographic breadth, and topical coverage. Thus, they invite proposals that explore the environmental history of any continent, region, or nation and that cover any time period.
We hope to receive in this special issue of Ambiente e Sociedade original articles dealing with themes related to environmental history in the Latin American and global context. Among the topics that might beconsidered:
- History of conservation and environmental movements in Latin America and other parts of the globe;
- Histories of the expansion of agricultural frontiers, landscape changes, and environmental impacts on global ecosystems;
- Histories of biological exchange, energy systems, and climate change; Environmental justice, political ecology, labor history, and gender studies;
- Histories that explore the intersections of environmental history with allied disciplines, including Animal Studies, Science and Technology Studies, the History of Health, and Literature.
