Reviews: Riotto on Tap, 'The Fort Pillow Massacre: North, South, and the Status of African Americans in the Civil War Era' (x-h-war)

I noticed this review by colleagues at H-War and thought that CivWar readers would be interested as well, especially in this book's suitability for teaching.

Review: Carter on Harms and Freamon and Blight, 'Indian Ocean Slavery in the Age of Abolition' (x-h-slavery)

[Altbough this anthology deals with slavery in our time period but well outside our typical geographic context, it raises some important issues about defining slavery as an institution and within a particular space that EAR researchers on the peculiar institution may want to consider.]
