Oral History, "Pseudo-Memory" and Atrocity Investigation: request for procedures

I’m seeking information about verification techniques or protocols used in prior oral history studies, especially dealing with violence or communal atrocities, because of my investigation of Lynching Era incidents. This brings the dilemma of entering formerly sealed settings and differentiating between fact and fantasy in testimony (I started the process in 1982, when many living witnesses were still alive).
