Call for Contributors - Windows into the Medieval Mediterranean

Contributors are sought for an edited collection, under contract with publishers Taylor and Francis, that illuminates the many worlds of the Medieval Mediterranean, 470-1350. Resting on a foundation of scholarly essays appropriate to undergraduate/first year graduate students, I am seeking narrative essays (2000-3000 words) accompanied by primary source materials, written and/or visual, illustrative of the contributor's argument and meant to engage students more deeply. The general theme of the chapters is as follows:
The Mediterranean and Its Environmental History

AARHMS Junior Scholar Travel Grants

The American Academy of Research Historians of Medieval Spain (AARHMS) welcomes applications for our newly-renamed Simon Barton Memorial Junior Scholar Travel Grants. In 2018, AARHMS will offer up to three grants of $500 each in support of travel for research or conference presentations in the field of medieval Iberian history. These grants are offered in memory of Simon Barton, a historian of medieval Iberia whose research was surpassed in quality only by the depth of his commitment to mentoring young scholars.
