CfP: Comparative Education and Development Alternatives: critiques, innovations and transitions, British Association of Comparative and International Education

The British Association for Comparative and International education is inviting proposals for its 2018 conference (York, 12-14 SEptember). The theme of the conference is 'comparative Education and Development Alternatives: critiques, innovations and transitions'. The conference aims to consider how central concepts in the field of comparative and international education – such as development, sustainability and global social justice– can be reimagined in order to offer new trajectories for educational research, policy and practice.

Anderson County suffragists take on county clerk to assert their right to vote and run for office in school elections

Not everyone believed that they had to follow the new Kentucky law of 1912 that gave "qualified" women the right to vote and run for office in the new county school system. When Mrs. Lee Campbell, principal of a private school in Lawrenceburg (History & Families, 29), went to register her candidacy for the elected position of Anderson County school superintendent, the county clerk at first hesitated and asked her to come back later. Mrs. Campbell returned, together with Mrs. Wallace Moore Bartlett who was president of the Anderson County Equal Rights Association. Mrs.

The Journal of Thomas Jefferson’s Life and Times announces a call for proposals for a special issue to be published in 2018 that focuses on Thomas Jefferson and women. We seek original historical research contributions from a variety of perspectives. Particular, unique stories that are intriguing are also welcome.
