Hi,

The Anthropology of Children in the Middle East

Dear Colleague,

With only relatively few ethnographic studies of children in the Middle East or in the diaspora in existence, the articles in this issue of Anthropology of the Middle East represents thematically and theoretically highly divergent projects. Ranging from the history of childhood in Iran to parent-child dynamics in Morocco, this issue emphasizes approaches and topics in critical anthropology as applied to the Middle East.

CFP: Children, Childhood, and Popular Culture

The Children and Childhood Studies Area of the Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association is seeking papers and presentations addressing any aspect of the convergence of Popular Culture and American Childhood. Research in this area draws equally from the humanities and the behavioral and social sciences. Papers in this area examine the impact of popular culture on children and childhood, representations of children in and the construction of childhood through popular culture, and the roles children and young adults take on as influencers and creators of popular culture.
