In view of the traumatic political events of the past year, we anticipate that a substantial number of papers will examine Islam and the Rohingya issue. We emphasize, however, that we welcome papers that examine otherethnic and religious groups that fall within this theme.

Call for Papers: Inaugural Anthony Kaye Memorial Essay Award

The Society of Civil War Historians and the Journal of the Civil War Era invite submissions from early career scholars (doctoral candidates at the writing stage and PhDs not more than two years removed from having earned their degree) for the inaugural Anthony Kaye Memorial Essay Award. Papers on any topic concerning the history of the Civil War era, broadly defined, will be considered.

CFP: Tennessee Historical Quarterly Special Issue on Suffrage in the South

The Tennessee Historical Quarterly seeks submissions for a special issue focusing on the centennial of women’s acquisition of the right to vote.  Papers must explore suffrage-related questions in the American South, although they need not be Tennessee-specific.  Interested authors should submit a one page abstract and (no more than) two page CV to Carole Bucy at carole.bucy@volstate.edu; Frances Kolb at frances.b.kolb@vanderbilt.edu; and Kristofer Ray at kristofer.ray@dartmouth.edu.  Deadline for abstract submission is July 1, 2018.  Expected issue will be Spring
