Each year the Society for the History of Technology designates up to four International Scholars for a two-year term. One of the goals of the International Scholars program is to foster an international network of scholars in the history of technology that will benefit all members of the Society. We particularly welcome applications from or nominations of scholars from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

ANN: Pre-ACASA discussion and gathering at the Metropolitan Museum, March 18th

Dear colleagues,

As a way to launch ACASA in New York, the Metropolitan Museum has organized a panel discussion with Kate Ezra, Chika Okeke-Agulu, and Z.S. Strother, on Tuesday, March 18th, 3-4:30pm. It will be followed by coffee and cookies and will get the ACASA festivities started for those already in town.

It is free and open to the public (no need to RSVP).

MA Program in Transnational American Studies -- AUB -- April 1 Deadline

The Center for American Studies and Research at the American Univeristy of Beirut is still accepting applications for its MA program in Transnational Ameircan Studies.  In addition to three required courses in transnational American studies, US/Middle East relations, and theories and methods, students are able to take electives across the University as part of their program of study.  The MA concludes with a final project.  Funding is available on a competitive and limited basis.

Conference Panel for 99th ASALH Convention on origins of the Civil Rights Movement

I have a paper discussing the role of CORE in the origins of the Civil Rights Movement and would like to propose a panel of papers around the same topic: the origins of the Civil Rights Movement.

The Polish Review

Contributions are kindly invited to The Polish Review, a peer reviewed, international, English language, interdisciplinary academic journal published by the University of Illinois Press on behalf of the  Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America, with the mission of disseminating scholarly materials in the various fields of Polish studies broadly defined to include focus on Poland and the Polish diaspora. 

Submissions from younger scholars, authors resident outside the United States, and contributors who have not yet published in The Polish Review, are especially welcome.

Soccer conference with Pele' at Hofstra University

Hofstra University has organized an unprecedented four-day international conference on soccer for April 10-13, 2014.
With over 150 scholars, players and speakers from 25 countries, the conference promises to be a landmark event in soccer scholarship.
