Pledge of Allegiance and Salutes

I am writing a book on the impact of WW II on Cincinnati, OH. I have sifted through the papers of the Jewish Community Relations Committee at the American Jewish Archives. I came across a memo written by a JCRC person who infiltrated a German American society meeting in February 1942 to determine if the club's activities were in any way pro-Nazi. The key note speaker was the mayor of the city who had in the past made a habit of showing up at the meetings of the local chapter of the American First Committee.

Commentating as Philosophy and the Abrahamic Interpreters July 2-5, 2014, Istanbul “Commentating as Philosophy and the Abrahamic Interpreters” is a conference second in a trilogy, entitled, “The Abrahamic Trilogy”. 
 
The trilogy is about the development and reception of Greek philosophy in the Abrahamic traditions. While the first conference was about Proclus, and his influence, the present conference will focus on the form of philosophy that was dominant until the early modern period.

Summer Language Workshop at Indiana: Beginning Polish. Funding available

The Indiana University Summer Language Workshop continues to accept applications for intensive first-year Polish language study (June 9 - August 1, 2014) on the Bloomington campus. The program features 20 contact hours weekly, twice-weekly Polish table, films, food tastings, and other culturally rich extracurricular programming. 

Applications for Summer FLAS to fund Polish study in the Workshop are also still being accepted by IU’s Russian and East European Institute (contingent upon availability of additional funds).
