Member Publications: MacKinnon, Chen Hansheng China's Last Romantic Revolutionary

Chen Hansheng's (1897-2004) story is remarkable,  spanning the entire 20th century.   He graduated from Pomona College in California in 1920, becoming Beida’s youngest professor and colleague of Hu Shi in 1924. Radicalized by the March 18, 1926, Peking massacre of students by warlord troops, he was one of the last to see mentor Li Dazhao before his arrest and execution in 1927.
