I'm working on a course that discusses, in part, the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990-2001. Especially the siege of Sarajevo, the genocide at Srebrenica, the role of UNPROFOR and NGOs like the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, the Kosovo insurgency and the Serbian war with Kosovo/NATO's Operation Allied Force.
The complexities of these confilicts make it difficult for a single book or handful of articles to convey the ethnic, national, regional, and international dimensions and players. Especially for students who have little to no idea that there was war in Europe in the 1990s.
